Jonathan Butler

Bio

Jonathan Butler is a 2014 graduate of Oneonta High School, where he was a two-sport athlete in football and basketball. During his time at OHS, Butler was part of two of the program’s three consecutive AHSAA Class 4A State Finals appearances, helping lead the Redskins to the 2013 State Championship. As a senior, he earned All-County honors as a First Team Defensive Lineman and All-Region honors as a First Team Offensive Lineman, while also being selected to the All-Area basketball team.

After graduation, Butler attended Jacksonville State University before transferring to Athens State University in the spring of 2019. He earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education from Athens State in December of 2023.

Butler currently works for Oneonta City Schools as a Physical Education teacher for both the middle and high school. He is entering his ninth season coaching within the Oneonta High School Football program and currently serves as the Defensive Line and Tight Ends coach for the varsity football team. Prior to joining the varsity staff, Butler served as the Head Coach of the Oneonta Middle School football program.

In addition to football, Butler is entering his fifth season as an assistant coach for the Oneonta Varsity Girls Basketball program and his fourth year coaching within the Oneonta Softball program.

Butler is married to his wife, Kara, a kindergarten teacher at Oneonta Elementary School.
